So This Is The New Year

We're in 2009 now. It doesn't sound as good as 2008, but then again 8 is my favourite number. I'm biased.

However, 2009 is already shaping up to be good. Okay, exams are hardly "good" but they're nearly over and done with. Last year ending on a generally bad note but everything seems to be getting better; slowly, but surely.

Kat has a drainpipe. Surely, this isone of the better things to happen this month. Hilltop times for her then. That's why she has a bad back. Even her doctor is suspecting something. Or so me and Becky believe. We're usually right. We'd make a good crime-fighting team. Although, in my rather vivid and psychadelic dreams, my sidekick is a certain drummer. Where did that even come from?

6th form - being the logical people that they are - have given us study leave after our exams. We're all so grateful. No, really. This provides a perfect opportunity to make our anticipated drainpipe spoons. I shall make a selection; one or every day of the week. And then we're going searching. I mean, one down and two to go. It can't be that hard.

I mentioned dreams before and they are indeed colourfu and amazing. In fact, they're the best thing about going to sleep. :D But I was walking home today and realised that sometimes little things I dream about come true. Of course, I don't have psychic dreams a la "Survivor" but sometimes I dream something will happen. And it will. The people present, the clothes they're wearing, their actions, their words - identical! But only small things. Which is a shame - I want to know what the editorial exam will be like!

Also, I've been listening to Jack's Mannequin on repeat. The two albums are wonderful. I've been listening to Andrew McMahon's other band Something Corporate too. There's quite a bit of difference between them, in my opinion. But I like SoCo too.

Something about Jack's Mannequin strikes a chord.

Also, Jimmy Eat World's "For Me This Is Heaven" - how did I not know of this song before?

I daresay, my social life has sufficiently increased this year - I feel rather happy.

And alas; I am the last of the Proactives. Oh dear. This must be solved. I must find a willing participant. But they are no nowhere to be found. No: they can be found - just not anywhere near me.

I wasn't too keen on "Sam's Town" but after watching The Killers on Jools Holland, methinks "Day and Age" will be a smooshing of "Sam's Town" and "Hot Fuss". I loved "Hot Fuss". The synths sealed the deal really.

I've been listening to happier music recently. Music you can sing along to and dance to. By dancing, I mean proper dancing because I can "dance" to anything. Apparantly my moves are cool and abstract. You heard it here first.

One day exactly until MGMT. I am very excited and I've been waiting a long time for this. Do not expect me to act rationally tomorrow either.

"Celebrity" is a funny word and one I don't like much. However, there are a great many musicians/bands I would like to meet.

The Blackpool trip is tomorrow.

Well, what I mean is - "yay" for leaving 6th form early and getting to wear non-uni. Also, it's a Wednesday so there will no nobody else at the park. :)

However, I am frigging terrified of rollercoasters. Even more so of the ones with just the lap bar. I don't mind the full over-the-head restraints because I feel safe. But dropping 205 feet with only a lap bar to keep me in does not make me feel at ease.

The only reason why I went on them six months ago was because I was tricked. I was fooled into believing it was not The Big One until I was near the front of the queue.

Well, now I know.

I'm going to try and go on the watery rollercoaster that I didn't go on last time, though. I went on my first big rollercoasters this summer. It was fun :) We were going up really slowly towards the first big drop and I kept going "I want to get off!". Amanda went, "It's a bit too late now."

It was the best ride I've been on so far. :D
